Humble Pranams to Poojya Guru Dev Swami Chinmayanandaji !

In 1982 some worshipers of Poojya Gurudev  Swami Chinmayandaji assembled at Kattakada and deiced to start a Mission Center at Kattakada . They invited the Trustees of Chinmaya Mission, Thiruvananthapuram region to attend a meeting at Kattakada Dr. A.S. Menon ( President & Director) Smt. Omana Kunjamma (Member of the Trustee), Sri. R.V. Tampi ( Member of trustee & Deputy Director) Participated in the meeting. The meeting was presided over Dr. A.S. Menon . He was requested to start an English Medium School under the management of Chinmaya Mission. The Chinmaya Vidyalaya - Kattakada was started in 1983 in a rented building near Christian College, Kattakada., from L.K.G. to Std.II with 85 Students.

Within five years, the School was shifted thrice to the nearby buildings in Kattakada. The frequent changes of school building caused many difficulties to the children and parents. So the parents and the staff of the school together requested the Trustees to buy a permanent site for the school and the Trust  purchased 1.08 acres land with an old I.T.I .Building very near to Kattakada Town. Since then Chinmaya Vidyalaya - Kattakada has been functioning in our own old building. During 2007 , the Trust undertook the construction of a new building.  The three storeyed building was completed and it was inaugurated by Swami Viviktanandaji on 10th April, 2008.  It is the previlage of Kattakada Chinmaya family.  We are consdering this as a gift given by the management in the Silver Jubilee year.  This building will add a grace of credit to the service of Chinmaya Mission.  During 2008-09 onwards the entire classes are  functioning in the spacious new building.
