CHINMAYA VIDYALAYA KATTAKADA ANNUAL REPORT 2010 – 11 Let me offer my humble pranams to Poojya Gurudev and I would like to submit the annual report of the ongoing academic year 2010-11. Proudly speaking about our board exams as usual there is 100% result. Our first ICSE batch appeared for the board examination last year . out of 30 students 16 secured distinction and 14 students passed in first class. Arya A Topped with 87% mark. This academic year was flagged off on 2nd June2010. Activity oriented curriculum has been followed in the K G section since 2005. it is based on 123 skills. Each day the K G students begin their activities with special assembly and each child is being given a chance to prove their abilities in the assembly. To inculcate the importance of fruits we celebrated fruits day on 16-08-10. As part of the nature walk, they visited balasram on 10-11-2010. Overall development of the students has always been the prime objective of the school and with this in mind various co curricular activities are being planned. The students are divided into four houses – Ganga, Yamuna, Krishna and Kaveri. Monthly each house takes turn for keeping discipline, punctuality , cleanliness, assemblies and other programmes. The evaluation was done by the principal and the best house on duty was the Yamuna House. The next priority is being given for the academic excellence. Regular assessments, class tests and terminal examinations help to identify the weak spots of a child and remedial classes also being arranged for the weak students. In the beginning of the academic year itself , an academic council – which include the principal and the head of the departments has been constituted with an objective to co – ordinate all the curricular and co – curricular activities. Teachers were exposed to workshops and seminars organized by various publishers. With the whole hearted support of teachers and active participation from students and parents we have been able to organize various programmes. Reading maketh a man’. To keep up this proverb, reading week was celebrated on 21st June. We conducted an elocution competition for the High school students and essay writing competition for the U P students. We were enlightened on 30th June as our Guruji’s birthday falls on that day. We conducted a special assembly and birthday song was sung by all the teachers and the students. Sweets were distributed among the students. Gurupoornima was observed on 26th July. We were blessed with a great personality, Sri. Suresh Kumar, teacher in English Govt. H S Bharathanoor addressed our children. He shared his knowledge on Vedantha and Indian mythology. With great respect and reverence towards Gurus and Guru Paramparas we invited the faculties who had left the institution after rendering a commendable service and we honored them in the function. The month of Karkkidakom was celebrated as Ramayana Month with devotion. Children were given training to recite Ramayana and a quiz competition was conducted related to the epic. Brni.Namitha Chaithanya conducted a GIta Gnana Yagna 12th Chapter – Bhakthi Yoga - from4th to 9th August in the School Auditorium. Those six days were really vibrant for the students, teachers and the people in the locality
Mahasamadhi Day was observed on 3rd August. Bhajans were chanted and Padhukpooja was done by the outgoing Students of Standard 10. Independence Day was Celebrated on 15th August Scouts Guides and Cubs of the Vidyalaya displayed a Parade. Students performed skit on Patriotism. Selected students acted as great leaders and it helped our children to kindle their patriotic sense. District Scout office at Neyyattinkara conducted a cultural competition and our students had shown their outstanding performance. Onam, the festival of harvest and flowers was celebrated on 20th August. Various House based cultural activities like vallamkali, Athapookkalam competition added flavour and fragrance to the occasion. Our education aims at imparting and inculcating values and morals in our children in order to fulfill it we have Balavihar and CHYK classes. ‘A passive mind is a devil’s worksho’p to make it active we organized various clubs like literary club for languages, science club and maths club. In literary clubs students indulged in various language activities like making word pots, handwritten magazine, making dramas if their own etc. To evolve creativity Malayalam literary club prepared a handwritten magazine – Drishti and it was released by our Academic and Administrative co- ordinator during ChinIT contest. Related with science club children were given golden opportunity to visit ISRO and witnessed Rocket launching. Also students were actively engaged in collecting medicinal plants , collecting current science events and drafting them in the notice board. Children are to be exposed to sweat and dust as it improves the immune ability to a great extent. To highlight this motto sports day was celebrated on 3rd September. The winners from the school level sports meet were taken to participate in the inter Chinmaya sports meet at Chandrasekharan Nair stadium on 28th octoiber 2010 and we bagged prize for the march past We organized a Traffic awareness Programme with the help of Circle Inspector Police, Kattakada on 15th September. It was attended by all the Teachers and High School Students and it helped the students to understand the traffic rules to a great level Teachers day was celebrated on 6th September as September 5th was a holiday. Student teachers engaged the classes effectively and they were monitored by a panel of teachers and , Kavya A B was selected the best student teacher for the year 2010 A cleanliness campaign was done by the scout and guide students under the leadership of Sri. K Harikumar during the first week of October. Talents are to be displayed. So we provided a platform to show case the talents by conducting the School Kalotsavam on 8th and 9th September.. in the Daksha competition conducted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya Vazhuthacaudu on 30th August 2010 our children showed their talents. Arunima Nair J S- from std VI A won first prize in light music, Aparna J S from std VII won first prize in classical music , Madhurima M S Nair -from std IX won first prize in folk dance Sreelekshmi B . S from std X won second prize in light music Sujith S B of Std IX and Vishnu C Nair of VII received CCMT scholarship this year. Rona Vijayan Secured third place in Rashtra bhasha exam conducted by Kerala Hindi Prachara Sabha. Midhuna R Mani got second place in essay writing and painting competition conducted b y kerala cultural forum in memory of the great actor Sri. Satyan. We celebrated Mathrupooja on 17th October with all its divinity and rituals under the guidance of Sri Sakthidharan, one of the devotees of poojya Gurudev. We conducted a study tour on 21st October 2010 for the UP students to Happy land. Also we got a chance to visit Santhigiri Ashram. Our science exhibition was on 25th October 2010. teachers inspired the children enabling them to prepare the projects and their exhibits are evaluated by experts. IT field is growing at a very fast pace over the last few years. The irresistible hands of IT grasps the mind of children and dip them deep into it. On 12th November 2010 We hosted our 4th Chin IT contest. Students from six schools participated and Sri. K Sajeev, district Co-ordinator IT @ school was the chief guest for the ChinIT contest. This year overall trophy goes to C V Attukal with 31 points. We celebrated childrens day on 15th November 2010 as 14th was a holiday. Best Practices Everyday K.G section begins with an assembly & do Brain Gym exercise To improve General Knowledge everyday class teacher writes a G.K question & answer on the news corner of the board. It will remain in the board till evening. Students keep a separate notebook to record & the knowledge is tested twice in a year . Remedial teaching for the weak students. Housewise assembly.
